The Town of Love

I get such pleasure in photographing small provincial towns. They have their own feel and vibe. On a weekday, the suburbs are empty and you can feel a sense of peace and solitude. As you stroll along the quiet pavement you meet the older generation who stop to talk and bid you well. It seems on those days that culture is most evident, seeping out of ordinary buildings and ordinary places.

  1. The town of Love brings back memories of yesteryear. A simple home, a fire in the hearth, a home cooked meal gathered round the dining table, children playing on the lawn, a community held together by church and school. An era free of Hi Tech, fast food and dis-ease.

    1. I had the same feeling when I made the photos. A feeling of simplicity, harking back to days gone by. This was reinforced by several people who stopped to talk and share some of their history relating to the streets where they live - their lives and their goings on.

  2. I enjoyed your dead-pan approach and look forward to seeing more.
